Maximum Series 2009

 

         The following Series of Six Races will be jointly organised by the three Clubs:-

      Upnor Sailing Club,The Medway Cruising Club and The Medway Yacht Club

 

  The Maximum Cup            for Cruiser Class Div 1    RORC  IRC  Rated Boats

 The Maximum Trophy       for Cruiser Class Div 2       MYC  PN  Rated Boats

The Cruiser Class Maximum Series consist of 6 races, with the best 4 results to count.

                   These Series are named in fond memory of Peter Smith and his yacht “Maximum”

 

1.0

Rules        The race will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS),  the Prescriptions of the RYA,

The MYA Cruiser Class Sailing Instructions, including any supplementary S.I’s, and appropriate  ORC,  rating authority and class rules.    ISAF Advertising Code Category C and IRC2009 Part 3 (IRC-C) apply.

2.0

Classes to Race :

2.1

Cruiser Class  Div 1           shall fly Numeral Pennant No. 1

Cruiser Class  Div 2           shall fly Numeral Pennant No. 2,              

2.2

Eligibility to Race

Cruiser Class Div 1 (IRC) is open to mono hull  Cruisers having a current valid RORC  IRC rating certificate with a TCC above 0.750 and a minimum SSS of 10.

Cruiser Class Div 2 (MYA  PN is open to mono hull  Cruisers having a valid MYA  PN certificate ..

Boats without a valid 2009 MYA PN certificate should apply in good time to the MYA Cruiser Handicap Committee for a rating.   (Contact MYC office, tel. 01634 718399, or MYC web site ).

Boats must be sailed in rating trim,  carry a copy of their rating certificate on board and be available for inspection.

A signed Entry Form must be received before the start of the boats first race.

2.5

The race committee reserves the right to refuse any entry.

3.0

Race Programme.

Start Times will be as shown above any variation will be made in accordance with the Sailing Instructions.

Races will be started using the RRS rule 26 (5, 4, 1),Go system, with the Warning signal at 5 minutes before the start.

4.0

Scoring System.   Points will be awarded using the RRS Appendix A Low Point System.  (A2 and A9 will apply).

5.0

Sailing Instructions.

5.1

MYC,MCC,USC Cruiser Class 2009 Sailing Instructions will apply together with any Supplementary Sailing Instructions.These will be E-Mailed to entrants and will also be available from the MYC administration office (01634  718399),  the  MYC race box , the MYC Cruiser Class Website ,the MCC or USC

5.2

 

Courses, designated by numbers, will be selected from the MYA Cruiser Class Course Sheet (revised 2009) unless otherwise stated in Supplementary Sailing Instructions.

5.3

Time Limit    will be 1600 hours for the first boat in each race and rule RRS 35 applies.

6.0

Race Area

The race area will be the River Medway and the Thames Estuary

Prizes.   The trophies named above will be presented to the Class winners at the Cruiser Class Prize Giving at the Autumn Series Lunch at the MYC 22nd November 2009
